Celebrating Ruth's Birthday with the children

We invited Ruth up to our house to celebrate her birthday. The kids got her some gift cards and a cute little Christmas decoration.
Ruth also came with us to the Santa Run 5K and helped the kids cheer me on as I ran... don't worry, I gave them my cookies and milk as I ran by!

I haven't written anything on this blog for a while because I just didn't have anything to write about. I decided to just post things about my kids as they relate to adoption so they will have an accurate story of their lives.
For the last few nights Ava has been saying to me, "I want to go live with Ruth." I know that option isn't possible, but sometimes it hurts to hear it. I think that was one of my biggest fears, that my children would want to go back and live with their birth mother.
"Sharing" is hard sometimes.

  1. I'm so glad to see you writing again! I am just wondering why this showed up in my feed just now when it seems it was written in February??

With Ava, this might be a psychology thing. Ask her why she wants to live with Ruth. Ask what she thinks would be different, or if she misses her, or would like to write her a letter. It may be something silly, not some huge catastrophic thing we adults tend to think when we hear a child say such a thing. It could be something like, Well, when I went to her house last time, she let me have ice cream. Seriously... kids say things like that sometimes and it could be a really simple explanation!

  2. I came across your blog and once I started reading from the beginning I couldn't stop. I am so amazed at your faith and strength to go thru all you did to get those 5 beautiful kids. I have also adopted... I have two girls 6 and 2. And then after 9 years of marriage gave birth to my son. It is truly a miracle for each child that comes, no matter how they get to us. Your story is just that... miracles one after another. How wonderful HIS plan is for us. Thank you for sharing.
